A decade ago, I caught a felony conviction for marijuana possession in Georgia—a state that still treats it like a serious crime while half the country's opened dispensaries on every corner. That single event from my early twenties continues to slam doors on traditional employment, regardless of my skills, intelligence, or what I actually bring to the table.

Could I be bitter about it? Absolutely. But I'd rather be resourceful.

Here's what I realized: the barriers that keep me out of conventional work don't change what I'm genuinely good at—being present, engaging authentically, offering perspective shaped by resilience, and providing the kind of undistracted attention that's increasingly rare.
